Boon Ong is an Intimate Lifestyle & Figurative Art photographer based in Calgary, AB Canada. He first photographed fine art nude in 2013 and completely hooked with the genre. Born and raised in Malaysia from a conservative asian family, it was the sense of rebellious and contradiction to his upbringing that kept Boon exploring more into this genre. Subconsciously, he has used his art as a way to yell for new freedom, break down barriers, and create a safe space for people to find confidence in their own body and sexuality.
Simple, Honest, Truthful are the guiding mottos to Boon. Over the last few years, Boon’s work has received numerous awards and been featured in various magazines, blogs and art gallery. His proudest moment is when his work is also being used as educational reference material by Emily Carr University of Art & Design, Vancouver.
Wednesday @ 4:00 - 7:00 - Choreograph with Boon Ong
There is never a good description how I can fully describe my photography style, simply because I never want to comply to any pre-established constraint. Because of that, it has been my mission to be as open as possible to photograph anyone regardless of their gender, age, body shape, sexuality, race, and regardless of any venue, lighting situation or intention.
But there is one thing I do best - bringing out the true persona of a person and choreographing a visual story that connects.
In this class, my intent is to fill up your tool box and equip you with vision to be extremely flexible to improvise and create. I’ll share my creating process, covering a few key elements:
Bringing out the true persona of an individual
Understanding movement and creative posing
Strategic planning and creative vision while shooting on location/in home
Technique to tackle various technical constraints and applify it to your own benefit
Choreographing a story that connects
This is a very interactive class with lots of movement exercise intertwine within the lecture, follow by a live shoot to put all learnings to practice. It’s going to be a 3 hours jam packed of content, but I promise you will have lots of room to breathe.
Who is this class for? It doesn’t matter if you are explicitly shooting boudoir, if you shoot wedding, families, portrait, or any genre that involve human, you will benefit immensely from this class.

Jessica Rae is an award winning intimate lifestyle / boudoir photographer born and raised near Vancouver BC, Canada. Her love of photography started at a very young age. She had her start before the digital era and her love of film and cinema is present in her work today. Jessica is best known for her dark and moody aesthetic and creating variety in any space shes in. One of Jessica's goals is to create a sense of story with her images, this goes beyond the subject to include her surrounding environment and the atmosphere. Everything plays an integral and connecting role in her artistry. While she is predominantly a natural light photographer, she loves to play with all facets of lighting. She strives to separate herself from traditional studio photographers and feels a greater connection with documentary and lifestyle images, with a dose of editorial thrown in for good measure.

COUPLES: INTIMATE STORY TELLING - Tuesday and Wednesday 9:00 - 12:00
There are many different approaches to couple’s boudoir. This is about showcasing the emotional connection between two people. The images do not need to be explicit to be powerful and create an emotional reaction in the viewer. Join me as we dive into this sub-genre and see how we can document the intimate and emotive bond. * Includes a live shoot *
SHOOTING DARK AND MOODY - WEDNESDAY 4:00 - 7:00
It’s easy to get stuck in the trap of relying solely on your gear and ignoring your gut. Throw the traditional rules of ‘what should my meter read’ out the window, and let me show you how to trust what you see and not what the rules tell you. We will debunk some of the misconceptions that people tend to believe about dark and moody images. As well, I’ll show you that it’s not about post production, it’s about shooting with intention and learning to read the light. This course will help you create dark and moody imagery with confidence. Whether natural or studio lighting, you will leave Camp seeing light in a whole new way.
