A: Hi! Is this Katie?
Client: Yes, this is Katie! Hi Alex!
A: Yay! Did I catch you at a good time to chat for a few minutes?
Client: Sure, this is a good time!
A: Perfect! So let’s jump right in: You’re interested in a Boudoir Shoot, correct?
Client: Yes, I am!
A: Awesome! If you don’t mind, I would love to hear a little bit about why you’re interested in doing a Boudoir Shoot and what you’re hoping to get out of it.
Client: Of course! So I’m sure you hear this a lot, but I had my first baby 18 months ago and since then have really struggled with my self confidence and loving my body. I know my husband has noticed the change, too, so I’m really hoping to both get my confidence back and give him a gift for his birthday in October.
A: See?! This is why I love Boudoir so much. It’s just as much a gift for yourself as it is for your husband. In fact, I think it’s even MORE of a gift for you! That’s awesome! And you’re right, many of my clients do have a similar story and journey, so you’re in the right place! Have you ever done anything like this before, Katie?
Client: No, never!!
A: YES! I love a clean slate because that means I get to be the one to train you, so that’s the right answer!!
A: Well since you haven’t done this before, I do just want to take a moment to assure you that you are in great hands with me - I’m going to be here to guide you through this entire experience from what to wear, to hair and makeup, and also how to do all of these crazy poses!
Client: Oh, great. I am the most awkward in front of a camera so you definitely have your work cut out for you!
A: Haha! If I had a dollar for every time I’ve heard that, I wouldn’t have to work anymore! But don’t worry, I always demonstrate every single pose for my clients myself. So you get to watch me do it first, which is actually pretty hilarious because I’m a huge dork! We have a lot of fun.
Client: That sounds perfect.
A: I’ll also be guiding you through the rest of it when it’s your turn, including what to do with your hands, your feet, and especially your face because if you’re anything like me - someone points a camera at me and I’m like ‘AHHH WHATS HAPPENING! MAKE IT STOP!’ (we both laugh) But don’t worry, I will be walking you through your facial expressions, too! And I’ll also be showing you some images on the back of the camera right from the beginning and as we go through the shoot, so you’ll be able to see right away like “holy shit it’s working!” That always makes people feel much more comfortable, and by the end of the shoot every single woman I’ve ever photographed has turned into a super model rock star!
Client: Oh man this sounds so fun!! Now I’m really excited! So how does it all work?
A: That’s a great question! How about I walk you through the whole process and then we can see if you have any questions and go from there? Does that sound good?
A: Perfect! So, to book in for a Boudoir Session there is a $500 Session Fee due upon booking. This Session Fee includes a ton of stuff! It includes a pre-shoot consultation, wardrobe and styling advice, so I can definitely help you figure out what to wear and where to find these things if you need some help with that!
Client: Oh, yes. I will need lots of help!
A: No worries at all! Outfit choice is SO important. I will help you find pieces you will feel confident and sexy in! You’ll also have access to my Client Wardrobe. I have a little bit of a lingerie addiction, so I have pieces in all different sizes, shapes, and colors available for you to wear during your session! I recommend having 3-5 outfits for your shoot, but that can be any combination of outfits you bring or options I already have available in the Studio. I do ask that you bring at least a well-fitting, super cute matching bra + panty set and a black thong to wear under my garments.
Client: Ok, I can do that!
A: What will happen is when you arrive for your shoot, we’ll sort through anything you brought and then I’ll probably be throwing some things at you, too, once I see you in person. “Here, try this! And this! And this!” We’ll choose your favorites and then we’ll get to work!
Client: *laughing* Ok!
A: So moving on a little bit, professional hair and makeup is also included in the Session Fee! You’ll arrive to the Studio with a clean, moisturized face and clean, dry hair. Then we’ll get you started in hair and makeup and the transformation will begin!
Client: Ok! Do I need to bring any of my own makeup or anything?
A: No, we have everything we will need here in the Studio, including a lifetime supply of eyelashes! Haha.
Client: Oooh, awesome!
A: The photoshoot itself is also included; it’s about 2 hours of shoot time, but the entire experience including hair and makeup does take 3-4 hours just so that you can plan for that! We shoot Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays and we begin at 10:00 AM. We’re usually wrapped up by about 2:00 PM so that you can plan for that! Finally, the last thing included in the Session Fee is professional retouching! That’s a little bit of Photoshop, typically some skin smoothing or bags under the eyes. Nothing too crazy, but a little bit goes a long way! Photoshop is our BFF for sure!
A: I know right?! So that’s everything included in the Session Fee, do you have any questions about that before I move on to the next part?
Client: No, not right now but I’m sure I’ll have some later!
A: That’s perfectly fine! Once your Session Fee has been received, you’ll be getting a Welcome E-mail from me that will have instructions for creating your Pinterest board, there will be a little survey, a preparation timeline and my full pricing guide will be attached to that e-mail as well for your reference. Have you given any thought to how you’d like to display your images from your shoot?
Client: No, I haven’t!! Well, maybe a book? Is that a thing?
A: Yes, you’re right on target there! But don’t worry, it’s a little difficult to know what you want when you don’t know what the options are, right!?
A: The good news is, Katie, is that I have all the samples of our products in the Studio! So when you come in for your session you’ll be able to see and touch everything. That usually gives people a great indication for which direction they’re leaning in. The other piece of good news is that you don’t have to make any of those decisions until your Viewing Session, which happens about one week after your shoot. At your Viewing Session, you’ll get to see all of your finished images for the first time - my favorite part!! You can make sure you love them, choose your favorites, and then if you’d like to order any prints or products, that is the time to do so. Does that make sense?
A: Ok great! I will definitely walk you through the basic options though since we’re already on the phone!
The first option is called a Folio Box, which is a collection of matted, 8x10’’ portraits that come in a BEAUTIFUL box. I actually got this option for my shoot because we have “his and hers” walk-in closets, so I thought it would be fun to hang some up in there! That way I get a little shot of confidence every time I walk into my closet to get dressed!
Client: Ohhh that’s a great idea!
A: I thought so too! But, some people don’t love the idea of their own butt on their walls, so that’s ok too! Most people do go for an Album, and I think there are a couple of reasons for that! The first reason is the privacy factor, right? (Client: right). It’s much easier to keep tucked away if you don’t want everyone to see it. Or, you can do like I do and leave it right on the coffee table for people to discover! Haha.
The other reason I think most people go for the album is the price difference between the two. The Folio Box starts at 10 images in the box for $1500 and goes up from there just depending on how many images you end up loving. The albums, on the other hand, are going to start at 8x8’’, 10-pages which holds about 20-25 images and those start at $1200! So for a few hundred dollars less, you can see that you’re already getting more than twice the amount of images as you would in that Folio Box. Does that make sense?
Client: Yes, it does!
A: Great! The last option is individual Wall Portraits. So if you want to add something on for the wall, you could totally do that! Wall Portraits begin at $225 for an 8x10’’ matted portrait and go up from there depending on the size and material that you prefer.
A: So do you have any questions about any of that? I know that was a ton of information!
Client: No, I think everything is very clearly laid out. Thanks so much for taking the time to walk through it with me!
A: No problem at all! In that case, would you like to go ahead and book in for a Boudoir Session!?
Client: YES!!! I’m so excited!
A: Yayyyy!! Let’s look at some dates!! (Choose a date)
A: Ok, so I have you down for Monday, September 25th at 10:00 AM! All I need to secure that is your Session Fee, which comes to $526.50 including sales tax. And I can just take a card over the phone if that works for you?
Client: Sure, that works!
A: Ok! Just to let you know, Session Fees are non-refundable since we do block off the entire day for you.
Client: Ok no problem, I totally understand.
A: Great! I’m ready for the card number when you are!
Client: *reads off card info*
A: Thanks so much, that went right through! So what I’ll do is send over your Welcome E-mail this afternoon and then we can get started planning! In the meantime, if you have any questions or ever need help with anything, e-mail is always the best way to get in touch with me, ok?
Client: Great, thank you!! I’m so excited!
A: Me too! Enjoy the rest of your day, Katie! We’ll talk soon!
Client: You too, bye!!
